Have you ever tried to get an appointment with a doctor and found it really frustrating? That happens to me a lot but here's one I really don't understand:
My internist ran some basic tests that clearly show some abnormalities. She tells me to see an infectious disease doctor. So, ok, no problem, right? WRONG! The doctor whose name and number she gives me isn't in when I first call and the receptionist tells me that he takes care of his own scheduling (WEIRD, I know, right) and that he would get back to me the next morning. Well, knowing that something that sends you to an infectious disease doctor could , well, be an actual infectious disease, I called back when I hadn't received a call and it was already the afternoon. I, once again, get the receptionist who tells me that he's not yet in but they will call me back. Later that afternoon I get a call back only to tell me that he's not taking outpatients but only seeing those who've been admitted. So they give me the name of a different doctor to call. I call this one and they can't see me for 5 weeks. Ummmm....potential infectious disease over here...gee, don't you want things that that to be nipped in the bud. What is wrong with this picture? No, don't answer that. I know well enough that it's yet another case of doctor's offices being completely ridiculous. I actually tried to call another I.D. doc but again getting a call in when, gee, people might be able to make phone calls to offices (since you know we working people have nothing else to do with our time) just didn't prove to work. Yet again I was stymied. At this point I have 3 weeks until my appointment. Hopefully I don't get even sicker nor do I infect anyone else between now and then. AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
