So, clearly it's been 4 long years since I've blogged but I decided it's time to get back on here. A lot has happened in the past 4 years but I'll stick to the stuff that's meaningful to this blog. I will say I've learned to live with fibro pretty well. I've even learned my limits so that I can workout with it now. That's a real boon to me and actually makes me feel better. I will say cold winters like the one that is just ending really suck and cause a lot of pain. I'm sure other fibro sufferers can relate.
In the meantime, I've also been diagnosed with a couple of other major diseases. In the late summer/early fall I was diagnosed with both gastroparesis and MCTD (aka: mixed connective tissue disease). None of this is fun especially on top of fibromyalgia. For those who don't know, gastroparesis is basically paralysis of the stomach. It can be very dangerous as it means you can't digest food properly. My diet has changed drastically and I've dropped 40 pounds. The silver lining is the weight loss and that does help my joints (and people keep telling me how good I look and I'll take that). MCTD just makes fibro look like a minor cold. Both of them together are like a fire in your body all the time.
All of this together has caused my anxiety to amp up which is not good for me. As someone who has had panic attacks forever but usually about one every five years the last few months have been a total nightmare. I was good when I was home from work (for six months) and for the first few weeks that I was back at work and then it hit me like a ton of bricks and I couldn't function like a normal person anymore. I'm slowly getting better and I really need to be my real self in the next few weeks because I really do have something wonderful to look forward to coming up very soon...
The great news is...my son is engaged and getting married in less than five weeks. That does mean car rides to New York and lots of work to prepare for the wedding SO ANXIETY AND PAIN BE GONE!!!!
I will try to be better about blogging regularly. I should be good about it this week since I'm on spring break starting this afternoon and I'll just be home cleaning my house from top to bottom in preparation for Passover and the house full of people I will have. Have a great day everyone!
